When a tree has to come down, it comes down clean.
Dead ash, a split maple over the garage, a storm-leaner hanging the wrong way — we take down the trees that can't be saved across Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Rigged down in pieces when there's no room to drop, hauled off, raked clean. Insurance papers in your hand before anyone leaves the ground.
When a tree has to go
Not every tree is worth saving, and a few are dangerous to leave standing. Emerald ash borer hollowed out most of the ash in this part of Ohio — those trees fail fast and without warning, dropping limbs or whole tops in the next stiff wind. A maple that's split at the crotch, a tree leaning harder every season, roots heaving the sidewalk, a dead crown over the driveway: those are removals, not trims.
If you're not sure whether yours needs to come down or just needs work, that's exactly what the free estimate is for. We'd rather save a tree with a structural prune or a cable than cut it — but when down is the only safe call, we say so plainly and you'll know before any chain starts.
The other common one is the storm-fallen tree: down across a driveway, leaned onto a roof, or hung up in another tree after a Mosquito Lake summer storm rolls through Cortland, Bazetta, and Bristolville. Those are unstable and not a DIY job — that's our storm line, day or night.
We take everything from a single yard tree to a whole property of dead standing timber. Big or small, the crew that quotes it is the crew that does it.
We know which ones are hollow before we climb.
The neighborhoods here — Warren's east side, the older streets of Niles, the lake side of Cortland — are full of mature maples and ashes planted decades ago. They're past prime, and we've taken down a lot of them. Borer-killed ash in Mecca, Greene, and the rural northeast quadrant is the one we push people on: it fails unpredictably, so get it down before the next storm makes the decision for you.
Questions, answered
How much does tree removal cost in Trumbull County?
There's no flat rate — price comes down to height, trunk diameter, how close the tree is to a house, fence, or power line, and how much rigging it takes to bring it down in pieces. A 30-foot backyard maple with room to drop is a different job than a 70-foot oak leaning over a roof. We walk every job before we quote it, the estimate is free, and the number you get is the number you pay unless the tree hides something we couldn't see from the ground.
Will you remove a tree that fell in a storm?
Yes — storm-fallen trees are some of the most common calls we get. If a tree is down across your driveway, on your roof, or hung up in another tree, that work runs through our storm line and we move fast. Hung-up and partially-uprooted trees are dangerous to touch; leave them and call us.
Do you take the whole tree, including the stump?
Removal takes the tree down to a low stump and hauls off the wood and brush. Grinding the stump below grade is a separate service — most folks bundle the two so the spot is ready to sod or plant when we leave. Tell us up front and we price both together.
Is your crew insured before climbing my tree?
Yes, and you'll see the paper before anyone leaves the ground. We carry a liability certificate in the truck and hand it to you at the estimate. If a limb were to land on your roof or your neighbor's fence, that's on our policy — not yours.
